QUÉ DICHA
Two months of joy overflowing. It’s a little insane to think about the fact that Shelb and I have been here for two months already. It feels like five minutes ago that I was posting the Homesick blog, so filled with anticipation and excitement and impatience to jump headfirst into my new adventure. And at the same time, every day here feels like a week.
I’ve struggled with piecing this next post together in my mind because there are a million things I could tell y’all about. My life here is so…full. Of everything, really. Joy, mostly. But also curiosity, patience, movement, stillness, creativity, thought. The things that bring me the most joy in life are fairly simple, but I have them in abundance here.
Everything is still so laden in gold. The walk to the bus every day, the cool breeze that fills my house, even the barking dogs at night still have an endearing lilt to their racket. Even with things more chaotic than when I first arrived, I still have so many moments of stillness and tranquility in my day. Moments for reflection and presence.
As I face the task of telling y’all about my life without it reading as a laundry list, here are bits and pieces of my life that bring me immense amounts of joy, that make me excited to wake with the sun at six, and have me wondering how I ever struggled to find purpose and desire…
Flash Forward: Two More Months
Like I said, I have really struggled with piecing together a good post since I got here. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and it keeps me from following through with lots of projects in life. But I don’t want that to happen here! So here’s a quick update:
We just hit the four month mark of living in Heredia. The days are still laden in gold, and I have daily and weekly and monthly routines that fill my cup to the brim. I’ve found difficulty in getting into a rhythm with my work life, and have been grinding away at teaching four different classes, five days a week. I have a huge community of friends, coworkers, and Ticos who pack my schedule with weekly visits to the farmer’s market, road trips into the mountains, and pick up soccer games. I dance the majority of the week, splitting my already busy schedule with dance classes and social dancing at the latin dance clubs here. It’s the thing that’s lit me up the most since arriving here. (I have a more in-depth post about this, I can share if y’all are interested!
So like…what are you all curious about?? I don’t want to neglect this blog, because I love keeping y’all up to date on my adventures, but I’ve hit a writer’s block! Is there anything specific I can share with you all about my new normal? Do you want weekly/monthly updates? Give me specifics, let me know in the comments. I would love your ideas/questions, and I promise to send another update sooner than 4 months from now!
For now, enjoy my last four months through pictures ♥ (and captions)
